The Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater - approved by the IRS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center launches "Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater". Remember your hometown theater... gifts to the Friends of the Pickens go to building preservation and local education programs.

The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center in Newport is proud to announce the formation of a new non-profit The Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater to preserve and protect its 174-year old theater building and to promote arts and cultural programming to enhance Newport's cultural life. This new 501-3c has been approved by the IRS and is now accepting contributions.

The "Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater" is a non-profit supporting body whose goal is support a broad range of cultural programs such as lectures, films and concerts as well as programs designed to integrate film and movie-based experiences with local school curriculums. Also, programming through the Friends will support the long-term preservation of the Jane Pickens Theater building as a historic treasure for the citizens of Newport County and beyond. Every dollar given to the Friends of the Pickens accomplishes two goals; funding programs for local schools and preserving a key cultural center for Newport.
