launches
“Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater”
The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center in Newport is proud to announce the formation of a new non-profit The Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater to preserve and protect its
174-year old theater building and to promote arts and cultural programming to enhance Newport’s cultural life. This new 501-3c has been approved by the IRS and is now accepting contributions.
The “Friends of the Jane Pickens Theater” is a non-profit supporting body whose goal is support a broad range of cultural programs such as lectures, films and concerts as well as programs designed to integrate film and movie-based experiences with local school curriculums. Also, programming through the Friends will support the long-term preservation of the Jane Pickens Theater building as a historic treasure for the citizens of Newport County and beyond. Every dollar given to the Friends of the Pickens accomplishes two goals…. funding programs for local schools and preserving a key cultural center for Newport.
